What gets hidden on your SIN

  • Social Insurance Number
  • Address
  • Name (optional)
  • Date of birth (optional)
  • Expiry date (optional)

Ticked fields are covered as soon as your file opens. Tick or untick any of them, or draw a box over anything else.

How it works

  1. Drop a photo, scan or PDF of your SIN above.
  2. Its text is read on your device, and the fields you ticked are covered with solid boxes.
  3. Check the result, then download a safe copy. The file is checked again for anything still readable.

Questions

Will it hide other 9-digit numbers by mistake?

Rarely. A number next to a SIN label is always covered, and an unlabelled 9-digit number is covered only when it passes the SIN checksum, which most other numbers fail.

My SIN starts with a 9. Is there anything else to hide?

SINs that start with 9 are issued to temporary residents and come with an expiry date. Tick Expiry date to cover it as well.
