A typical UPI confirmation screen shows the amount, date and time, the name of the person paid, your UPI ID and theirs, the bank account used (often partly masked), and a transaction or UTR number. Your UPI ID often includes your phone number, so sharing it can mean sharing your number as well.
The person you paid usually only needs to match the payment to what they received: the amount, the date and time, and sometimes the transaction number.
How to blur it
- Take the screenshot and open Blur UPI screenshot. Paste it with Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on Mac), or on a phone, pick it from your gallery.
- UPI IDs, phone numbers, the transaction number, bank account numbers and email are covered by default.
- If the recipient asked for the transaction number to trace the payment, untick Transaction / UTR number.
- Leave Amount unticked, so the payment is still visible as proof.
- Export and share the new image.
Use solid boxes for UPI IDs and numbers. A phone number or 12-digit reference under a light blur can sometimes be read back.
Whose details to hide
- Your UPI ID and number: hide them if the screenshot goes to anyone beyond the person you paid.
- The other person's UPI ID: hide it if you're posting the screenshot in a group, a review or social media.
- Names: off by default, since the recipient usually wants to see their own name. Tick it for public posts.
- Balance: if the screenshot shows your account balance, drag a box over it.

A word on payment screenshots as proof
Screenshots are easy to fake, and many sellers check their own bank or UPI app rather than trusting a picture. If someone asks you to share more details than a screenshot normally shows, such as a PIN or OTP, don't. No genuine payment check needs them. Questions
Is it risky to share my UPI ID?
People need your UPI ID to pay you, so it's not secret. Hiding it in screenshots you post publicly simply limits spam and unwanted payment requests, and keeps your phone number private if it's part of the ID.
Does it work with any UPI app?
Yes. It reads the text in the screenshot, so the app's layout doesn't matter much. Check the preview for anything it missed.
