Open Censor screenshotThe short answer
Cover the number with a solid box, not a light blur, and check the rest of the screenshot for other copies of it. A phone number is only ten or so digits, which makes a blurred one much easier to guess than a blurred sentence.
- Take the screenshot, then open Censor screenshot and paste it with Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on Mac), or drop the file in.
- Phone numbers are found and highlighted automatically, along with emails, UPI IDs and other identifiers.
- Accept the highlights you want hidden. Drag a box over anything that was missed, such as a number written with unusual spacing.
- Keep the style on Solid, then export. The screenshot is read again before download, and anything still legible is flagged.
Where phone numbers hide in a screenshot
The obvious one is in the chat header or the contact card. The ones people miss are smaller:
- UPI IDs: many are built from a phone number, so the number shows up again before the @ sign.
- Chat bubbles: someone typed their number into a message, or forwarded a contact.
- Group lists and replies: unsaved contacts often appear as a raw number instead of a name.
- Notification banners: a message or call from another number arriving as you took the screenshot.
- Profile pages and order details: delivery apps and e-commerce orders usually print the number in full.

Blur, pixelate or solid?
Use a solid box for the number itself. Blur is fine for a profile photo next to it, but not for digits: with only ten options per character and a known app font, a lightly blurred number can sometimes be reconstructed. Can blurred text be unblurred? explains why.
Hiding only the middle digits still leaves the start and end, and those are often enough to match a number someone already half knows. Cover the whole number unless you have a reason to keep part of it.
Phone numbers in other people's screenshots
If the number belongs to someone else, such as a friend in a chat or a customer in a support ticket, it's polite and safer to hide it before you post the screenshot anywhere. The same steps work on screenshots you received from others, and on several at once: drop up to 20 images in and export them as a ZIP of PNGs.
Questions
Can I keep the last few digits visible?
Yes. Instead of accepting the automatic highlight, draw a box over just the digits you want hidden. Covering the whole number is safer.
Does it find numbers with spaces or a country code?
Common formats with spaces, dashes and a +91 or other country code are recognised. Always look over the screenshot for anything unusual before you export.
