When it's worth blurring

  • Strangers in the background of travel or street photos.
  • Children, especially other people's, in school and event photos.
  • Patients, customers or colleagues in work photos.
  • The photo on an ID card you're sharing as a copy.

Blur faces automatically

  1. Open Blur face in photo and drop the picture in.
  2. Faces are detected on your device. Reject any you want to keep sharp, such as your own.
  3. Raise the strength for small faces, or switch to Pixelate.
  4. Download. The new file contains no location or camera data.

Faces aren't the only giveaway

Name tags, school uniforms, house numbers, car number plates and screens in the background can identify people too. Drag a box over them as well.

Photos from phones often include GPS coordinates. Exporting a fresh copy removes them.

Questions

Does face detection need the internet?

Only to download the small model the first time. Detection itself runs on your device, and the photo is never uploaded.
