The e-Aadhaar PDF you download from UIDAI is protected with an 8-character password: the first 4 letters of your name, in CAPITALS, followed by your year of birth, exactly as they appear on your Aadhaar.
| Name on Aadhaar | Year of birth | Password |
|---|---|---|
| Ravi Kumar | 1991 | RAVI1991 |
| Sunita Rao | 1985 | SUNI1985 |
If the password doesn't work
- Use capital letters for the name part.
- Use the year of birth printed on your Aadhaar, even if it differs from other documents.
- If you updated your name or date of birth recently, use the details on the latest version.
Open and mask it in one step
- Open Mask Aadhaar and drop in the e-Aadhaar PDF.
- Type the password when asked. It only unlocks the file in your browser tab; it isn't saved or sent anywhere.
- The first 8 digits, the VID and the QR code are covered automatically.
- Download. The new PDF has no password, so share it only where it's needed.
The masked copy you download is not password-protected. Keep the original PDF for yourself.
